Crime Commissioner welcomes crackdown on legal highs

POLICE & Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer, has welcomed new powers that are set to be introduced to tackle legal highs.
John Dwyer, who last month expressed concerns regarding the policing challenges associated with legal highs, said, “I’m glad that ministers are taking action. This is a national problem, and I think it’s paramount that we take the bottom out of the market and stop it. The results of legal highs have major implications on the police and health service, as well as the people who use them.
“The people who sell these products, are in my mind, no better than drug dealers. I welcome the introduction of these new powers which could see those selling legal highs facing the same consequences as those who sell illegal drugs.”
