Super new multi-sport centre planned

PLANS have been drawn up for a super new floodlit multi-use games area in one of Warrington’s most under-privileged areas
The development is proposed for Dallam Playing Fields, off Longshaw Street, Bewsey- land owned by the borough council.
A ballcourt marked out for football and basketball, goals and basketball hoops, heavy duty fencing with a noise damper system , floodlights which will automatically switch off at 9pm and cycle racks will be provided.
Adjoining land will also be marked out for football and rugby pitches, although this does not form part of an application to be considered by Warrington’s planning committee next week.
New changing rooms and a car park have already been built.
The scheme has been welcomed by Sport England, who note that there will be four new pitches marked out compared with one at present
A report to be considered by the planning committee states that the multi-use games area (MUGA) will provide an all-weather, year-round facility for young people to play sport.
Planners say the nearest residential property – St Marks Vicarage – is 93 metres away so the occupants should not be significantly affected by the ;proposed facility.
Officers are recommending the scheme be approved – with a condition that the floodlights be not used at 9pm.
