FIRE crews were called to a house at Warrington after a candle started a blaze.
The fire was at a house in Forster Street and the blaze involved curtains close to where the candle had been placed.
Two fire engines went to the scene by which time the fire was out. But crews used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “People should be careful when lighting candles in the home.
“Don’t put candles near curtains, or other fabrics or furniture and keep them out of draughts.”
In another incident, crews went to open land near Willis Street, Warrington and used a water back pack to extinguish a small fire in the open.
