Decision deferred on dentist's sign

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have deferred a decision on a dentist’s application to retain three signs outside her surgery.
The signs outside Dr Jane Butterworth’s surgery in Higher Lane, Lymm have annoyed nearby residents who claim they are detrimental to the street scene.
Planning officers say the signs have no impact on highway safety, nor on the visual amenity of the area, but members of the borough’s planning committee deferred the matter to give time for talks with the applicant.
They felt there was no need for three different signs in front of the surgery – a former detached bungalow.
Dr Butterworth sought planning consent to retain the signs – and planning officers recommended her application be approved.
The surgery is sandwiched between a petrol filling station and a convenience store and the signs are contained within its grounds.
Councillors also expressed concern about the number of signs outside the petrol station and asked officers to look into the situation.
