Strike will hit council services

NATIONAL strike action is expected to hit many council services at Warrington tomorrow (Thursday).
A number of trades unions have balloted members and voted in favour of strike action including Unison, Unite and GMB and the National Union of Teachers is also striking.
Many schools will be closed or partially closed.
Bins that are normally collected tomorrow will not be collected and black bins that would have been collected will now be collected from Tuesday, July 15 and the following days until all collections are complete.
Residents should place their black bin at the normal collection point from 6.30am.
Blue and green bins normally collected tomorrow will not be collected until the next scheduled day – Thursday, July 24.
However, the council’s three household waste recycling centres at Woolston, Gatewarth and Stockton Heath will be open as usual.
The customer Contact Centre, on Horsemarket Street, will be closed to the public, however limited telephone cover will be provided.
But the council is asking that only essential calls be made tomorrow.
Orford Youth Base and the Youth Café will be closed for the day. The street based session, vulnerable girls group and 3-6pm session will also be cancelled.
Some adult social care day services will not be running and all affected service users have been notified.
A Town Hall spokesperson said: “The council is committed to making every effort to minimise the impact on residents. It is focusing on ensuring vital services to the most vulnerable, older people and children
and young people are still delivered.

The following schools will be closed: Barrow Hall Primary, Beamont Primary, Bewsey Lodge Primary, Birchwood CE Primary, Brook Acre Primary, Chapelford Village, Culcheth High, Evelyn Street Primary, Grappenhall Hall, Grappenhall Heys, Green Lane School, Latchford St James Primary, Oakwood Primary, Penketh Primary, Penketh South Primary, Sacred Heart Primary, St Bridget’s Primary, St Margaret’s Primary, St Paul of the Cross Primary.
The following schools will be partially open: Alderman Bolton Primary, Birchwood High, Bradshaw Primary, Bridgewater High, Broomfields Junior, Bruche Primary, Christ Church Primary, Cinnamon Brow Primary, Culcheth Primary, Dallam Primary, Foxwood School, Glazebury Primary,
Grappenhall St Wilfrids, Great Sankey Primary, Locking Stumps Primary, Ravenbank Primary, Sandy Lane Nursery, Sankey Valley St James, St Albans, St Andrews Primary, St Augustine, St Benedict’s, St Gregory’s High, St Lewis Primary, St Monica’s Primary, St Peter’s Primary, St Phillips CE, St Stephen’s Primary, St Vincent’s, Stretton St Matthews, University Academy, Warrington St Ann’s, Westbrook Old Hall Primary, Woolston Primary.
There are a small number of schools where it is not yet known whether they will be closed.
