Four fire engines tackle house blaze

FOUR fire engines, including an aerial appliance, were called to a house fire at Warrington.
The blaze was on Greenway, Great Sankey and started in a first floor bedroom, then spreading to the roof space.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tacked the blaze using two hose reel jets and one covering jet.
Gas and electricity were isolated within the property and crews used a seven meter ladder and height safety equipment to remove some roof tiles.
The adjoining propoerty was checked for fire and hotspots, using a thermal imaging camera. The roof and adjoining wall were cooled due to hot spots.
The Red Cross attended the incident.
Fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Widnes were involved in the operation.
Earier, two fire engines from Warrington were called to a flat fire in Lander Close, Warrington. Two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the blaze. All the occupants escaped unhurt and police were requested to attend.
