Police bid to trace fisherman after report of sex assault 40 years ago

POLICE are appealing for information to help trace a fisherman at Lymm Dam nearly 40 years ago who may have been involved in a sexual assault on a 12-year-old boy.
Officers are trying to trace a number of people who may have been visiting the Lymm Dam area in Warrington in the summer of 1975.
In particular officers are keen to trace a man, believed to be called Bill, a keen fisherman who visited the Dam and lived in a caravan park in the Carrington area of Manchester.
The incident was reported to police recently and the victim was a 12-year-old boy at the time.
Detective Constable Kevin Lloyd said: “We are asking people to cast their minds back to the mid to late 1970s and to contact us if they have any information, which could be relevant to our enquiries. We appreciate that it is difficult asking people to recall things from such a long time ago but any information ? even the smallest amount ? is useful when piecing together a case.”
