Homes up for approval – a second time

PLANS for 104 houses at Warrington – originally given the green light by planning bosses in September last year – are to re-submitted to the borough council.
The development by Halebank Developments (Warrington) Ltd is planned for land off Marsden Avenue, Latchford.
It will come before the borough’s development management committee next Thursday because of a series of minor changes.
These include amendments to the access arrangements for the site and a change in the split of affordable rented homes and houses for sale.
The original scheme involved 70 per cent affordable rent properties and 30 per cent houses for sale at market prices. This has been changed to 100 per cent affordable homes – split 50-50 between rented and intermediate, or shared ownership, homes.
Plans submitted to the council last year revealed the site was formerly used for the disposal of slurried waste from local tanneries. But ground contamination is relatively light and robust remedial measures are planned to protect site users.
The new proposals are being recommended for approval
