Housing Trust moves towards merger deal

WARRINGTON’S Golden Gates Housing Trust has moved a step closer towards joining forces with St Helens-based Helena Partnerships to form a group owning 22,000 homes and employing around 1,000 people.
The boards of the two organisations have given the go-ahead to move to advanced partnership discussions.
If the partnership goes ahead, the new group would have a joint turnover of £100 million, making it one of the largest housing groups in the North West and a key regional regeneration partner.
The two groups started talking about a partnership through group structure in the autumn of last year.
Their boards have given the green light after considering a business case that set out clear benefits for customers, employees and the region as a whole.
During the summer the financial, legal and governance arrangements of both GGHT and Helena will be scrutinised and a period of consultation with key stakeholders including the Local Authorities and tenants will take place.
The boards will consider this information in September, the next decision point in the process.
If the partnership goes ahead, the new group would own 22,000 homes, employ around 1,000 people and have a joint turnover of £100million.
