Police launch appeal following serious assault on Knutsford Road

POLICE are appealing for information after a 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the early hours of Sunday morning when he was attacked walking home along Knutsford Road, Warrington.
The attack took place at 4am on June 15 when the victim was heading home along Knutsford Road in Latchford when he saw two men on the opposite of the road near to a kitchen showroom.
He continued to walk along the road and turned off into New Road and then onto York Street when he heard footsteps from behind. As he turned around he was punched to the right side of his face and knocked to the ground. The victim was then further assaulted before the offenders fled the scene.
He suffered a broken right cheekbone, swollen right eye and cuts below his right eye that required stitches.
Officers have launched an investigation and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident ? or has any information, which could assist with the investigation ? to get in touch.
DC Steve Deehan said: “This was a nasty attack that has left a man with serious injuries. We are committed to doing all we can to trace whoever is responsible and are urging anyone who has any information, which could assist with our enquiries to come forward. The incident took place in the early hours but there is a chance someone may have seen or heard something significant. If so, we would ask you to contact us.”
