THE search is still on for Rufus – although CCTV footage has revealed
the cuddly toy dog was NOT lost on a London to Glasgow train at
Warrington.
Rufus belongs to seven-year-old Ted McCaffery, of Stockton Heath, who was on the 13.28 train on Sunday with his Mum, Joanne, coming home from a One Direction concert.
They got off the train at Bank Quay Station in something of a hurry – and they believed Rufus had got left behind.
Ted and Rufus have never been parted – even when Ted underwent open-heart surgery at alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool, last year.
Joanne said: “Ted is an ambassador for Alder Hey Hospital as he fundraises for them.
“Rufus accompanies him and, unknown to Ted, the pair have been nominated by the hospital for the Pride of Britain award. They are due to be interviewed at the hospital on Thursday.
“Obviously we are desperate to get Rufus back and Ted is heartbroken.
“We have contacted the train company, but so far without success.”
Joanne contacted warrington-worldwide via twitter @warringtonworld appealing for readers to look out for the missing cuddly toy.
But now Virgin Trains who instigated a search appealing to their followers on the social network site, have trawled through CCTV footgae which reveals Ted and Rufus got off the train together.
Joanne says the search is now continuing around the home and garden and in the local area.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Rufus or can help in any way should email warrington-worldwide at [email protected]
