Police warning on drink driving

CHESHIRE Police have launched a series of partnership events to warn drivers about the dangers of drink driving.
The events are being run by the Cheshire Road Safety Group (CSRG) which comprises Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire Police and The Highways Agency and Halton, Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East borough councils, who all work together as a partnership for safer roads in Cheshire.
The events feature the “Think” car – a vehicle involved in a fatal road traffic collision donated by the family of the deceased driver – who had been drinking at the time of the crash.
He was only 21 – and was one and-a-half times over the legal limit when he crashed.
Road Traffic Officer Tony Hayhurst said: “Seeing the wreckage of a car is the biggest wake up call for many drivers – it opens their eyes to the reality of what can happen and more importantly, how a small amount of impairment, speed or short distraction could end in tragedy.”
The Think car will be in Warrington on the following days: Thursday June 19 at Birchwood Business Park – 10.00 – 14.00; Thursday June 19 at Asda Cockedge Centre – 15.00 – 18.00; Friday June 20 at Bents Garden Centre,Glazebury– 10.00 – 15.00; Saturday June 21 at Asda Westbrook, – 10.00 – 16.00; Sunday June 29 at Warrington Fire Station – 10.00 – 16.00.
