The importance of volunteering

THE Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace supported National Volunteers’ Week by recognising the important contribution made by its supporters.
Volunteers Week celebrated the fantastic contribution that millions of people make to their communities.
Every year, more than 20 million people across England and the UK volunteer, donating more than 100 million hours to their communities each week. It has been estimated that the economic value of this activity is worth in excess of £40 billion to the economy.
The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, based at the Peace Centre in Warrington, receives support from its volunteers in fundraising and hospitality.
Spokesman Jonathan Levy said: “Volunteers are so important to us and make a really positive difference to the running of the Peace Centre where we are based.
“People should think seriously about volunteering. It gives them a chance to develop new skills, make friends and give something back to the community. We are continually recruiting new volunteers and are very keen to hear from people with a range of skills.”
