Grappers end losing streak

AFTER a run of three defeats, Grappenhall got back to winning ways in the Vivio Cheshire County League Premier division.
Their 70-run victory at Bowdon left them in seventh place in the league – still disappointing after their bright start to the season.
Batting first after winning the toss, Grappers recovered from 41-4 to reach and respectable 168 all out.
Aussie all-rounder Josh McClelland top scored with 49, Andy Tetlow 39 and Gaz Burns 22.
The home side struggled for runs against accurate bowling and Sam Guest took 3-42, Sam Baxter 2-9 and McClelland 2-5.
Grappenhall 2nd took on Cheadle at Broad Lane but went down by eight wickets. Batting first, they reach 176-9, Paul Radage hitting 55 and Jamie Bye 51. But Cheadle galloped to 177-2 to take the points.
Travelling to Nantwich, Grappenhall 3rd’s bowlers took a mauling from the home side, who finished on 252-3 declared. Albert Pennington’s 2-66 was the best bowling performance.
Grappenhall were dismissed for 166, Rob Slater top scoring with 44 and David Nicholson contributing 29.
Warrington got the better of a drawn game against Tattenhall at Walton Lea.
Chris Kirby hit 48, Liam Heaphy 49, Andy Kirby 37 and James Rudd 32 as Warrington reached a formidable 193-6. Tattenhall never looked like reaching the target as Kyle Adams powered in with 4-40 and ended the game on 142-6.
Warrington 2nd got the better of Tattenhall where the home side were held to 172-8. Brendan Morris, 2-38 and Rishav Manta, 2-27 were the pick of the bowlers. Warrington cruised to 174-6.
In the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park went down by four wickets at Disley.
Lymm batted first and reached 157-8, N Din top scoring with 49 and St Butt 36. Phil Whelan bowled well for the visitors to take 4-33 but Disley reached 158-6
Lymm Oughtrington Park 2nd won by two wickets against Runcorn at Oughtrington Lane. The visitors were bowled out for 105 and Lymm totalled 106-8.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Glazebury travelled to Old Parkonians where the home side batted first and totalled a modest 128. It proved an adequate target, however, as Glazebury were dismissed for 72 despite a defiant 27 not out from veteran Simon Green.
Glazebury 2nd took a pasting from Maritime at Hurst Lane.
The Wirral side batted first and reached 175-8, with David Nicholson, 4-24 and Bruce Jardine, 2-37, the most effective bowlers. Glazebury collapsed to 57 all out, opener Gary Dunlop hitting a defiant 32.
Stretton entertained Wilmslow and the visitors batted first to reach 184, A Zubairi taking 5-49. Stretton were dismissed for 139, A Ashraf top scoring with 38.
Travelling to Knutsford, Stretton 2nd restricted the home side to 147, G Stone taking 4-20 and Josh Hayes 3-11. But they could only muster 85 in reply.
Appleton enjoyed a five wicket win over Wirral side The Groves, dismissing the home side for 100, Danny Oliver 5-25, Neil Thompson 3-5 Appleton coasted to 101-5, Martin Cooper top scoring with 42.
Appleton 2nd amassed 204-5 but were unable to force a victory against Old Parkonians at Lyons Lane, the visitors hanging on grimly at 101-9.
