Fire crews bring blaze under control

FIRE crews have succeeded in containing a blaze at industrial premises in Warrington which, early today, resulted in four streets being closed and numerous homes and businesses being evacuated.
The blaze was at engineering specialists Jones Nuttall, in Lilford Street, Bewsey and involves a number of acetylene cylinders.
Four fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Birchwood were sent to the scene. Police assisted Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service in creating a safety cordon around the fire..
Bewsey Road, Lilford Street, Folly Lane and Hoyle Street were closed to traffic and police advised members of the public to avoid the area.
A Fire Service spokesman said the properties had been evacuated as a precaution. No-one had been hurt.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used covering jets to cool the acetylene cylinders.
The roads have now been re-opened to traffic and people have been allowed to return to their homes and businesses premises.
