Mentors wanted to help NEETS

WARRINGTON Borough Council’s Brighter Futures team is looking to recruit new members.
The team is seeking enthusiastic people for its “Mentor Me” programme, to mentor young people aged 16-19 who need extra support to get them back into education, employment or training.
The programme matches a supportive mentor with a young person who could be at risk of social deprivation and could face difficulties throughout their life as a result of their tough start into adulthood.
They then meet regularly to chat, plan and find the support the young person needs to move on and secure a brighter future.
“Mentor Me” has been running for two years and more mentors are needed due to high demand.
The project was recently awarded the Mentoring and Briefing Charter Mark for its high standards and is the first in Warrington to achieve this accreditation.
Mentors will be fully trained and supported. Through mentoring they will gain valuable coaching experience and personal satisfaction, knowing that they have been instrumental giving a local young person a brighter future.
Often all a young person needs is a supportive adult who will listen to them without judgement. Someone who will advise and steer them, help them set goals and raise their self-esteem, and stay with them on their journey until they find their feet.
