TALENTED plumbing student Jack Sherratt has been selected to play for the England Colleges rugby team.
Jack, aged 19 from Padgate, is a key member of the Warrington Collegiate team, and has already played for North West and Cumbria Colleges.
He said: “I was proud to be put forward for selection process; it’s a huge honour to have been selected to play for England. I chose to study at Warrington Collegiate because it has great sports facilities and it gave me the opportunity to play Rugby for the college as well as studying Plumbing, but I didn’t expect this!”
The Collegiate’s rugby team is coached by Steve McCormack, who lectures in rugby league as part of the Warrington Wolves education academy, and is the current coach of the Scotland national team and semi-professional side Gloucestershire All Golds.
Jack’s tutor, Jon Brown, Lecturer in Plumbing and Gas at Warrington Collegiate, added: “This is fantastic news. Jack is an exceptional student who has worked hard to ensure that his college work is at the same standard as his sport. We have changed the times of the classes to fit in with Jack’s playing career because we knew what a phenomenal talent he is and just how much it meant to him to have a career as well as playing sport.”
