Security guard injured in raid

POLICE at Warrington today appealed for witnesses of a robbery in which a security guard was injured.
The raid was in Manchester Road, Warrington at around 11.30am on Saturday, May 24.
A cash in transit vehicle had stopped outside a Tesco Express Store whene security officer and a shop assistant were approached and threatened by two men wearing balaclavas.
A second security officer was assaulted before the two men made off with a quantity of cash.
The men are believed to have left the scene in a light coloured Land Rover Defender – a stolen vehicle — which was later set on fire in Larkfield Avenue, Paddington, Warrington.
It is believed that the men may have left Larkfield Avenue in a dark-coloured Audi 4X4, heading towards Manchester.
DC Richard Kennedy, the officer in the case, said: “Thankfully the injuries to the security guard were minor.
“We have been carrying out a number of enquiries in the area and I would appeal to anyone who has any information to contact me.
“In particular, if you saw two men acting suspiciously in the Manchester Road or Larkfield Avenue areas between 11am and 11.45am on Saturday morning, please contact Police on 101.
