Cricket wash-out

RAIN almost completed washed out the cricket programme in the Warrington area over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Vivio Cheshire County League’s Saturday matches were all cancelled, as were the TACS Partnership Cheshire League games.
Just one match started in the Cheshire Alliance – the “derby” between Appleton 3rd and Glazebury 2nd. Glazebury batted first and were 46-0 – Gary Dunlop 15 not out and Ian Black 27 not out – when play was abandoned.
It was pretty much the same story on Sunday, although Warrington 5th managed to complete a drawn game at Winnington Park.
All-rounder Will Fleetwood was Warrington’s man of the match, taking 2-35 as the home side totalled 179-3 and then hitting a superb 82 as Warrington replied with 161-6.
