Penketh High School make St Rocco's Happy!

PUPILS at Penketh High School, Warrington, were in for a hilarious surprise as they witnessed their teachers starring in a shot-by-shot recreation of ‘Happy’ the music video by Pharrell Williams – to help raise funds for St Rocco’s Hospice.
The same school made national headlines in 2013 when retiring Head Teacher Jeff Hughes starred in a YouTube parody of Gangnam Style that received over 325,000 hits on YouTube.
Recognising the huge success of last year’s film, the school have decided to dedicate their ‘Happy’ parody to St. Rocco’s Hospice in order to raise funds for the charity.
St. Rocco’s has been established in Warrington for 28 years and provide specialist care for patients with cancer and other life limiting illnesses. YouTube viewers will be encouraged to text HAPP113 to 70070 to donate £3 or visit http://www.justgiving.com/St-Roccos.
Head Teacher, Ben Dunne, who replaced Gangnam Style star Jeff Hughes as Principal in September 2013 said: “Our pupils have worked so hard again this year that we had to follow up Gangnam Style with something amazing in order to recognise the hard work that staff and pupils are putting in to ensure even greater success this coming summer. We are delighted that the film will be used to support St. Rocco’s Hospice, a charity close to the heart of our school and the wider community across Warrington.”
It is hoped this innovative campaign will raise vital funds and contribute towards the £3million per year St. Rocco’s needs to provide care and support to their patients.
The film, starring over 60 teachers, was premiered as a climax to the year 11 leavers’ assembly for 250 pupils. This is a school tradition and staff have given their own time out of school hours to produce the film as a gesture to students before their GCSE exams…it’s a bit of fun intended to make everyone feel ‘Happy’!
