PLANS for a major new foodstore at Lymm have been announced – with the promise of more than 35 new jobs.
The store would be built on the site of the former Rushgreen Service Station in Rushgreen Road, would have a sales area of 6,500 sq feet and would have parking for 57 cars.
A planning application has yet to be submitted to Warrington Borough council, but developers the Brookhouse Group are to hold a public exhibition on Friday, May 23 to give local residents the chance to view and discuss the proposals.
The exhibition will be at Lymm Youth and Community Association in Bridgewater Street between 1pm and 8pm
Mike Nuttall, property director at Brookhouse said: “Our proposal is aimed at bringing this redundant, brownfield land back into use and offering the local community a number of benefits.
“As well as new job opportunities, the store would provide local residents with more shopping choice and convenience, reducing the need for them to travel out of Lymm for their grocery shopping.
“We have developed a design that uses natural materials and landscaping to complement the semi-rural surroundings and are in discussions with high-quality retailers who have expressed a strong interest in the site.
“We want to find out what local people think about our plans so hope that they will come and talk to us on May 23 There will be the opportunity to see visuals, ask questions and provide feedback.”
If planning approval is granted, an occupier would then be confirmed and the store expected to open next year.
Established in 1930, the Brookhouse Group is a privately-owned developer with a proven track record for delivering high-quality retail developments.
They have been responsible for major developments including Mere’s Edge at Helsby, where there is a Tesco and Parsonage Way at Leigh, where there is a Sainsbury’s store.
