Council launches determined drive to recruit more foster carers

MOST children who need foster carers are in care because of abuse or neglect, says the head of Warrington’s fostering service in a new video released by the council.
As Foster Care Fortnight begins (12-25 May 2014) Warrington Borough Council is launching a determined drive to recruit more foster carers.

And in her interview released today on the council’s YouTube channel Christine Howley, the council’s fostering service manager, says that hundreds of children in Warrington will need foster carers in the coming year.
The video report (see below) will launch a series of video interviews with existing foster carers in Warrington, to be released on the council’s YouTube channel during Foster Care Fortnight. Christine Howley commented, “We want to encourage people to consider fostering, and hearing the stories of people who have already fostered could help potential foster carers make their decision to come forward.
“We’ve also launched a ‘Guess Who Fosters’ quiz on our website, which will only take a couple of minutes to complete, and might help people realise that they’d be eligible to become a foster carer.
“So please take the quiz, phone us on 444 100 for more information, or follow us on Twitter and Facebook to hear when our videos featuring some of Warrington’s foster carers will be released. You might decide you’d like to hear more about becoming a foster carer, and Warrington definitely needs a lot more people to take that step and help change lives through fostering.”
The “Guess Who Fosters” quiz can be found online at:
