INTERNATIONAL classical pianist, composer and writer Stephen Hough CBE, joined staff, volunteers, patients and supporters to celebrate the opening of the new Patient and Family Lounge and Quiet Room in the In-patient Unit at St. Rocco’s Hospice.
The new facility was made possible thanks to a Department of Health Grant of £295k, plus support from volunteers and businesses within Warrington who helped fund the furnishings of the new building as part of the Corporate Challenge.
Chief Executive Officer, Pam Massey, said: “Having this new communal space for both patients, and their families, gives the opportunity for people to come together in a social and supportive manner, which enables and enhances care for patients and their families. New buildings alone don’t make great care but providing a space that enables choice and support, together with expert care, lifts people’s spirits in pursuit of excellent care”.
Following the Opening Ceremony, which involved former Warrington resident Stephen cutting a ribbon, everyone was invited for afternoon tea, which was provided by the catering staff at St. Rocco’s Hospice, and to peruse the information boards outlining the service that St. Rocco’s Hospice provides.
