Smoke alarm saves house

A SMOKE alarm saved serious damage when fire broke out in the kitchen at a semi-detached house in Lymm.
Fire crews from Warrington and Stockton Heath were called to the house in John Road, Lymm.
They found a blaze in the kitchen, caused by an unattended pan on a cooker, and used one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus to tackle the outbreak.
Damage was restricted to the kitchen although a ventilation unit was needed to clear smoke from the rest of the property. No-one hurt.
A hard-wired smoke detector was fitted in the property and did activate.
