Aussie Josh is man-of-the-match

AUSSIE Josh McClelland was man of the match when Grappenhall picked up another superb win in the Vivio Cheshire County League premier division – despite getting off to a poor start.
Both openers and skipper Richard Green were back in the pavilion at Oxton with the score on 44 and this soon became 71-4.
Then McClelland and Andy Tetlow came together and built up a good partnership. Tetlow fell for 25 with the score on 135 but the Aussie began to score freely and, with good support from the tail, took the score to a respectable 186, McClelland 69.
Oxton were soon in trouble as McClelland, 4-17 and Sam Guest, 4-39, tore into them and they were eventually bowled out for 59.
Grappenhall 2ND disappointed again, this time against Macclesfield at Broad Lane. Will Sharp, 34, was the only batsman to cause trouble as Grappers were bowled out for 97. Neil Muttock bowled well for 4-26, but it wasn’t enough to defend a lowly target and Macclesfield reached victory with five wickets to spare.
Grappenhall 3rd went down in a cup game against Widnes, Paul Radage, 84 dominating a total of 128-7. Widnes responded with 129-2.
Warrington’s dismal start to the season continued as they were bowled out for 98 by Northwich at Walton Lea. James Rudd, 26 and Liam Heaphy, 32 were the main scorers. Earlier, Northwich had totalled a gettable 126, Kyle Adams taking 4-53 and B McIntosh 4-20.
There was an exciting end to Warrington 2nd’s game at Brooklands after Warrington batted first and hit 137-7. Ian Sleigh hit 38 and Chai Gadepalli 24.
Brooklands had once wicket remaining with two runs required for victory at the close. Simon Hewitt took 3-24 and Gadepalli 3-32 in the drawn game.
Warrington 3rd were dismissed for 122 by Chester Boughton Hall, Rishav Mantra top scoring with 55 and Alan Hitchmough contributing with 27. Chester coasted to 124-1.
In the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park cruised to an eight wicket win over Langley at Oughtrington Lane. The visitors were dismissed for 124, Terry Scholes taking 4-29. Then Lymm hit 125-2, P Tong 60 and R Young 27 not out.
Lymm 2nd won by six wickets at Hale Barns after dismissing the home side for 127, Dave Evans 4-31 and R Hutton 3-21. Lymm replied with 130-4, Dave Evans hitting 40 not out and Kerry Anderson 52.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Appleton won by eight wickets after dismissing Holmes Chapel for 117. Aamir Rashid took 4-27. Rick Clarke hit 76 in Appleton’s 120-2, Antony Hurst offering good support with 30.
Appleton 2nd were bowled out for 137 at Mellor, despite Ed Sygrove’s fine 69 not out. Mellor claimed victory on 141-2.

Stretton scored an impressive 225-6 at The Groves, A Zubairi 81, D Mullins 39. The Wirral side were dismissed for 126, J Mir taking 5-19, H Raza 3-15.
In the return game at Stretton, the home side’s 2nd XI were bowled out for 112, Richard Taylor 64. The Groves took the game with 116-5.
After their disappointing start to the season, Glazebury won their second game – but only just.
In a low-scoring game at Hurst Lane, visitors Port Sunlight were dismissed for 58, Tom Wilkinson taking 4-18 and Jon Gibbons 3-2.
Glazebury’s last pair were at the wicket when victory game on 60-9. Wayne Hargreaves top scored with 14.
Skipper Ian Black hit a fine 72 out of Glazebury 2nd’s 111 all out at Knutsford. The home side replied with 113-7, David Nicholson taking 3-30.
Rylands managed to hang on for a draw after visiting Audlem hit 193-7, Andy Calvert taking 3-61 and Alan Brady 3-35. The last pair were at the wicket with the score on 184-9 despite a super, late century from Alan Brady who hit 113 not out. Eddie Platt hit 45.
It was a similar story for Rylands 2nd who could only muster 68-9 at Audlem where the home side had declared on 218-6. Phil Mansfield, 29 and Sujith Nair, 21 were Rylands’ top scorers.
