Teenager develops new app despite suffering from chronic illness

A 14-year-old Warrington youngster has developed an innovative app while suffering from a long-term illness.
Alistair Kressel, aged 14, recently published an innovative app for Android mobile phones he had programmed while suffering with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / ME and having been off school for nearly six months.
Alistair, a gifted programmer and musician is severely fatigued by the condition and can cope only with less than one hour of home tuition daily. He needs a wheelchair to move outside the house.
The App, Quick Close, runs in the background and allows the user to return to the Home screen from any other app, simply by shaking the phone. It is not necessary to press any other buttons. Whatever app is in use at the time of shaking the phone remains open in the background and can be accessed again without having to load it anew.
Alistair developed the app using entirely his own ideas and inspiration, trying to help other people. He programmed and published it completely by himself while he had already been ill and off school with severe fatigue and headaches for several months. Since then, his condition has unfortunately deteriorated further, making it impossible for him to programme at all at the moment.
He does follow new developments in the field of mobile communications as much as his condition and energy allows and hopes to return to programming and a normal teenager’s life in due course.
