Musical comedy – on a stairlift

WARRINGTON-based Centenary Theatre Company are to stage Victoria Wood’s award-winning comedy “Acorn Antiques: The Musical” next month.
The show – originally based on a series of sketches from the TV series “Victoria Wood As Seen on TV – will be staged at Runcorn’s Brindley Theatre on May 13-17.
A highlight of the show will be the entrance by Marilyn Baxter, playing the central part of Mrs Overall, on a genuine Acorn Stairlift, on loan from the Yorkshire-based firm.
Victoria Wood herself says Mrs Overall’s grant entrance on the stairlift is one of the centrepieces of the show.
She has even changed one of the songs for the occasion.
Marilyn and co-star David Rimmer have been getting some practice on an Acorn Stairlift at a house in Sutton Weaver in readiness for the show.
Tickets are available from The Brindley box office 0151 907 8360 or online at www.thebrindley.org.uk
