POLICE and fire experts have launched an investigation into a fire which spread to nearby flats at Warringon early today.
Three fire engines were sent to the scene in Folly Lane, Bewsey after a blaze involving a quantity of rubbish spread to the fear of the flats.
One man was led to safety from the smoke-filled property and crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire with hose reel jets.
The investigation centres around the cause of the original rubbish fire.
In another incident, crews were called to a kitchen fire at a house in Coronation Drive, Penketh.
One man was treated at the scene for the effects of smoke and hose reel and main jets were used to extinguish the blaze, which is believed to have been caused by an overheated chip pan.
