Is Warrington ready for pavement cafes?

WHAT do the people of Warrington think about pavement cafes in the town?
That’s the question the borough council wants to put to residents, businesses and others.
Peter Astley, the council’s assistant director for regulation and public protection, explained: “We all want Warrington to be an attractive place for people to live, work and visit, and a vibrant café culture can have a very positive effect on a town.
“But we need to make sure we take account of the needs of everyone who uses our streets.
“So if you’d like to offer your views on the matter, please get in touch with us. You can email [email protected] or search for ‘consultation’ on the council website, or phone our licensing team on 442119 or 442072, or write to us.”
The council says it wants to arrive at a policy which not only controls the placing of articles on the highway, but is also mindful of the needs of all highway users, enhances the surrounding environment and helps businesses to prosper.
Responses to the consultation must be received no later than Friday 25 and all responses will be carefully considered by the council’s licensing committee.
