STUDENTS from Lymm High School competed at the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head at the Olympic venue, Eton Dorney, and came home with some amazing results.
The first medals of the day came in the WJ16 4X- category, with Ayesha Wooler and Lucy Stanhope receiving a Silver medal in the A category and Megan Dunbavand, Holly Robinson and Jess Swindells achieving a Gold medal in the B category.
Other medals followed for the J14 4X+, both receiving Silver medals in their categories with Matt Baguley and Tom Carroll in the A crew, and Tom Reed, Oli Houghton and Jack Bennett in the B category. Alix and Mathilde Tavernier were awarded the Bronze medal rowing for Trafford in the WJ14 4x+ as well.
Other results include: 7th for the WJ15 4x+ of Lucy Glover, Grace Rooney, Ellie Davies, Molly Clark and Georgina Richards; 12th in the WJ15 4x+ B category of Dominique Billingham, Sarah Whiteley, Izzy Oldland and Alex Brillus; 14th for the WJ14 4x+ of Cameron Nyland and Kian Turner; and the J18 4x- of Tom Nixon, Tom Glover and Ed Davies came 15th in a very tough category.
Meanwhile the school is also proud of Holly McMullen’s rowing achievements: she attained first place at the Schools Head in London. Holly, who trains with Runcorn Rowing Club, is currently having a year off from trialling as she is now too old for Junior events.
However, she is looking forward to the forthcoming national events in the summer. Overall, it has been a fantastic few weeks for Lymm High School pupils.
