Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after serious accident

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious accident at the junction of Poplars Avenue and Martin Avenue, Warrington, involving a motorcyclist and a car.
The collision involved an Aprilla motorcycle and a Black Ford Focus car. The collision occurred shortly before 6pm this evening, Wednesday 9 April 2014.
The motorcyclist, a man aged 25 years from the Warrington area was seriously injured and has been taken to hospital by air ambulance. His family have been informed and are in attendance at the hospital .
The driver of the car was unhurt.
Poplars Avenue at the junction with Osborne Avenue and Poplars Avenue at the junction of Derek Avenue are closed to allow the emergency services to complete their work at the scene.
The police at the scene expect to open the roads within the next hour.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision itself, or have any information which could assist the collision investigator. If you can help, please contact Warrington Police on the police non emergency number, 101, quoting incident number 689 of 0 April 2014.
