Carnival of the Animals

THE critically-acclaimed Northern Chamber Orchestra is bringing the Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals to Warrington Thursday June 26.
An afternoon concert for primary schools will be held at the Parr Hall in the afternoon, with an evening concert open to the public.
The project is being backed by Accent Warrington and Halton Music Education Hub and NCO is working with the Hub to create an exciting and innovative multi-arts schools initiative, giving about 450 children from 15 primary schools the opportunity to participate in hands-on music composition, dance, poetry and visual arts workshops – culminating in a
special schools concert.
NCO is looking forward to making connections with other local partners and to developing its links with businesses to ensure that The Carnival of the Animals is an exciting opportunity for all sectors of the local community.
An NCO spokesperson said: “The 15 schools are already on board and now it’s the turn of local businesses to join the Carnival through supporting and sponsoring this unique learning event, which will bring local
school children together in a jamboree of music, dance, poetry and art
to an audience of additional school children specially invited to enjoy the show”.
NCO’s evening concert on the same day will open up The Carnival of the Animals to the wider community, as NCO players perform the original Saint-Saens score, as part of a popular Carnival Classics concert.
There are opportunities for business partners to: support an individual school’s involvement; sponsor the schools’ concert or the specific Wild in Art element of the project – with the chance to “borrow” the finished
artwork, for display at company premises support the evening concert, or become the Carnival of the Animals Title Sponsor.
Partners will receive bespoke benefits and will be associated with
one of the most ambitious and innovative multi-art projects ever presented across Warrington and Halton, along with helping to give children in the community an exceptional chance to access quality music and arts.
The music workshops will result in the creation of two brand-new “Carnival” movements, while dancers will take to the stage with their own Carnival inspired creations – led by Warrington Wolves Foundation dance artist Samantha Hickey.
Budding young writers, led by Merseyside poet, Terry Caffrey, will create their own poems, some of which will be performed at
the concert, while Wild in Art – organisers of Liverpool’s award-winning “Go Superlambananas” – are providing a “mini” Lion, Rhino and Elephant sculpture, which will form a blank canvas for the visual art workshop participants to enjoying decorating – guided by a professional artist – for display at both the concerts. NCO and Accent Music Hub are now inviting the local business community to get involved.
While NCO is seeking sponsorship to match already secured public sector funding, there are
many other ways for local businesses and not-for-profit organisations to join the NCO Carnival of the Animals and increase their brand recognition across the area.
