FOUR fire engines were sent to Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station, near Warrington to deal with an underground fire.
The blaze was in a building 60 metres below ground level and fire crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. Ventilation units were used to clear dense smoke from the building.
Two fire engines from Warrington and one each from Widnes and Runcorn were involved in the operation last night.
