Caring charities join forces

TWO local charities which provide care services to vulnerable residents in Warrington have joined forces.
Warrington Community Care no longer exists but has become
one not-for-profit organisation with Warrington Community Living.
Historically, Warrington Community Care has provided mental health services while Warrington Community Living has provided services for people with learning disabilities and older people and people with dementia.
The services combining will mean people with diverse needs who need care and support, will be able to have one conversation and get information and access to the services they need from a single organisation.
Michael Sheppard, chief executive of Warrington Community Living, said: “We are very pleased to be able to bring together two local, social care charities that over the past 25 years have worked hard to support a range of people in Warrington. We aim to be an exemplar for the borough, ensuring that as a not for profit organisation we offer real value for public money whilst delivering the highest possible standards of care and
support.
“We have been working hard to develop personalised services, using the latest person-centred planning approach and this will now be brought in for the services currently provided by Warrington Community Care so their customers will have more tailored, individualised services too.”
Dave Matthews, chief executive of Warrington Community Care, said “Warrington Community Care is proud of its record in providing accommodation, care and support services for people with mental health problems in Warrington over the past 30 years.
“Looking ahead we are pleased to be merging with Warrington Community Living as we consider that this will help the merged organisations deliver more cost effective, diverse and even better services in the future.”
Cllr Pat Wright, Warrington Borough Council’s lead member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “The council has been supportive of the two organisations in this merger to ensure a safe transition for people using the services. It is good news that it has been completed successfully and it means these valuable services to some of our most vulnerable residents can continue.”
