New president for Probus Club

RETIRED architect David Birchall is the new president of Lymm Dingle Probus Club.
He was installed at the club’s inaugural lunch of the year at the Lymm Hotel, succeeding Colin Fuller.
Mr Birchall was chief architect of Warrington New Town Development Corporation until 1988 and then managing director of KKA Architectus, of Walton, for eight years until retirement in 1996.
He is now 75 and has lived in Lymm with his wife, Margaret, for 50 years.They have two sons, one daughter and five grandchildren, all education at Lymm Grammar School or Lymm High School.
Among other projects, Mr Birchall was responsible for the design of UK’s first IKEA store at Gemini, Warrington, the Environment Agency’s regional offices at the former Richard
Fairclough School in Knutsford Road, Warrington, the UK head office of Foden Trucks in Sandbach and most of the industrial and business parks New Town sites.
He enjoys playing senior golf, walking the family’s Yorkshire terrier and travelling on river cruises in Europe.
