BUDDING writers are being given the chance of cash prizes and having their work published in two competition being run as part of this year’s Warrington LitFest.
Culture Warrington is organising two creative writing competitions with age categories for children and adults.
The “Way With Words” and “Flash Fiction” competitions are supported
by The Colonel Edelsten Bequest and Waterstones Warrington. Entry is now open and closes on World Book Night, Wednesday April 23.
For children there are three age groups to enter: 9 and under, 10-13 and 14-17.
There are prizes in all three categories including free books and cash for first, second and third place. The winners will have their work published.
Children’s stories must be under 500 words and should be set in Warrington. Only youngsters who live or go to school in Warrington can enter.
The adult competition is for works of fiction, previously unpublished and under 500 words. It is open to writers from across the North West.

*The Colonel Edelsten Bequest is a charity which supports the arts, culture and heritage in Warrington.
It was established by Colonel John Edelsten (1863-1931) who, after a distinguished military career, became a generous benefactor to Warrington Museum.
