Bewsey Lodge kids get energy lesson

YEAR five pupils at Bewsey Lodge Primary School were recently paid a visit by IGas, who gave the children an interactive lesson on energy and how we use oil and gas in our day to day lives.
IGas’ Drilling Manager, Dave Kerr and Director of Stakeholder Engagement, Rachel Smith spent an hour with 30 pupils, offering them different, fun ways of learning about the importance and prominence of oil and gas in their everyday lives.
Sporting IGas baseball caps, the children of Bewsey Lodge were put in to teams to explore rock samples, watch IGas’ educational videos and answer quiz questions.
Melanie Kenworthy teacher at Bewsey Lodge said: “The children had great time learning about oil and gas. Getting to touch rock samples which were older than the dinosaurs was great for the kids because it’s a way of learning the curriculum in a hands on environment rather than just the classroom. They learnt not only about why we need energy but how we use it and where it comes from.”
