A COUNCILLOR is celebrating after winning a fight to have 20mph speed limits introduced on Twiss Green Lane and throughout Doeford Close, Culcheth.
Cllr Les Hoyle (pictured) had been pressing the borough council for some time to introduce 20mph zones as soon as possible on Twiss Green Lane and Doeford Close.
He said: “I am very pleased that the council has agreed with me that the 20mph Zone should be put in place on Twiss Green and in Doeford Close and this will be in place shortly.
“Traffic can be especially busy outside Twiss Green Primary School and I have had a number of parents and residents contact me regarding the danger to children at drop off and pick up times.”
Parish councillor Paul Campbell supported Cllr Hoyle in his campaign and is delighted at the news.
He said: ‘These speed zones are going to be more familiar to drivers and residents in the future, especially in built up areas.
“Most families nowadays are two and three car homes and with more cars on the road I will be joining with Les Hoyle in calling for 20mph zones where residents need them.”
