Councillor's anger over parking tickets

PARISH councillor Paul Campbell, who led a fight to stop wheel clamping in Culcheth has now launched a similar campaign to stop the issuing of parking tickets.
He has been inundated with complaints from shoppers who have been issued with parking tickets when parking at Lodge Drive.
Borough councillor Les Hoyle has backed his campaign.
Cllr Campbell said: “Many drivers visiting local restaurants believed there were agreements with the car park landlord, only to find they have been ticketed.
“This situation has to stop for the sake of the local community and businesses, as it is leading to ill will and loss of revenue.
“In the past I led a campaign to stop wheel clamping on the same car park and I was pleased when the current government introduced legislation banning clamping on private land.
“However, the landlord is now trying to get around that law by introducing parking tickets.
“I have written to the landlord asking for this unfair action to stop and to show some community spirit. I will also be making enquiries into how much of the land really belongs to the landlord.
“In addition, I will ask the landlord to stop this practice or at the very least bring more clarity to the issue.
“I am pointing residents to the very useful website www.moneysavingexpert.com where they will find a very informative article titled “Fight Private Parking Tickets”.
