LOVE was in the air amongst students at the University of Chester’s Warrington Campus, as they hosted their own version of ITV’s popular dating show, ‘Take Me Out’ in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Chester students Felix Baram and Nathan Willets took the role of match-making host Paddy McGuiness and introduced five male students to the panel of 20 female students who were looking for love.
Each young lady had to decide whether to keep their red balloon inflated if they wanted to be chosen for a date with the eligible bachelor, or pop it if ‘No likey no lighty’, a catchphrase made famous by the ITV show’s host.
Lareece Blenman from organisers Love Events, a company run by Events Management students from the university, said: “We wanted to create an event that brought students together on Campus, while having a good night out and raising money for a fantastic cause.
“We raised over £300 on the night, all of which will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust to help its work with its partners in the NHS, government and both national and international organisations.”
Tickets sold out days before the event and a variety of donated raffle prizes were won on the night.
Carol Carr, Fundraising Coordinator from the Teenage Cancer Trust added: “We were excited to be contacted by the Love Events Team. ‘Take Me Out Warrington’ is a great opportunity to get students involved and make them aware of the services Teenage Cancer Trust is able to provide to teenagers who have been diagnosed with cancer.
“We are going to use the kind donation to help improve lives and quality of care provided to patients. Thank you for the kind donations and raising awareness of our charity.”
