TRAFFIC was held up at Warrington when a road repair vehicle carrying tarmac and a propane cylinder caught fire.
The blaze was in Golborne Road, Winwick and three fire engines – two from Warrington and one from Birchwood – were called to the scene.
Firefighters used a main jet and two hosereel jets to tackle the fire, which was well developed and caused serious damage to the vehicle.
Police controlled traffic and Warrington Borough Council workmen were drafted in to cover leaked oil with sand. There were no reports of casualties.
