THE 26th Warrington East Beaver Colony (2nd Padgate) took flight when they visited Warrington Collegiate as part of their Aviation badge.
The college boasts a fully fitted aircraft cabin with all the emergency equipment and cabin resources as well as mock check-in facilities.
Clutching their boarding passes the excited Beaver Colony were welcomed aboard the flight to Disneyland, Orlando by first year Aviation students, Charlotte Daniels and Danielle Newens who showed them to their seats before staging a simulated take off including demonstration of the safety equipment.
After enjoying refreshments and fun activities, testing their aviation knowledge, the Beavers were presented with their Aviation badges before landing back safely at Warrington Collegiate.
6 year old Freya Litherland, who had been looking forward to the trip for weeks, said: “It’s been great fun learning about planes and flying for the badge. I‘m was so excited to be going on a plane.”
Kai Lindsay, Cub Scout Leader added: “Some of the youngsters would have been abroad with their parents, but for some this is their first experience of being on a plane. Coming to Warrington Collegiate has enabled them to put the badge into context and the plane is the ideal place to present the badges to the beavers.”
Diane Lewis, Lecturer in Aviation at Warrington Collegiate was delighted to host the flight, said: “The students were delighted to have the opportunity to host a flight as it will give them confidence and a head start for the Cabin Crew course which they do as part of the second year of the course. Many of the students will progress on to work for international airlines including ServisAir, Monarch Air, Thompson and Jet2.”
