HEALTH workers from Warrington have been named as winners in the Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust’s annual staff awards.
Andrea Hobbs, a member of the Informatics Project team based at Spencer House in Birchwood, was recognised as the Trust’s non-clinical employee of year.
The Community Rehabilitation and Falls Team, also based at Spencer House, were named as winners of the John Burtenshaw Safety award which is named in honour of a late colleague.
Andrea was celebrated for her excellent rapport with staff, which has helped several teams have a smooth transition to a new patient record system.
She came up with innovation ideas as well as better ways of working with the new system which resulted in real benefits and efficiencies for several clinical services and ultimately improved the experience for their patients.
The Community Rehabilitation and Falls Team received their award for their essential work to train care and residential home staff to prevent falls.
This not only benefits elderly and vulnerable people at risk, keeping them out of hospital, but it also reduces the pressures on local NHS services.
The team includes physiotherapists Rob Walters, Paul Clarke, Jenny Pennington and Sanjoy Vasudevan, physiotherapy assistant Michelle Clare, community assistant Daniel Thomson and nurse Julie Bills.
Bridgewater chief executive Dr Kate Fallon said: “I am immensely proud of all the winners and finalists at this year’s staff awards. Over the past year they have all demonstrated a real passion for providing and supporting the delivery of quality patient care.”
Bridgewater was also recognised by The UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) for the work it has carried out to manage its carbon footprint and energy consumption as well as the commitment it has shown to recycling waste.
