Crosfields celebrate new pitch opening

CROSFIELDS ARLFC celebrated the opening of their brand new pitch with an 84-4 thumping of Peterlee Pumas.
The new pitch was made possible after the club was issued an award by the RFL under the “Grass Remediation Programme”, a programme which has helped several amateur clubs make the move to summer rugby.
For Crosfields, this meant a drainage programme which would reclaim areas of the recreation club which were no longer able to facilitate sports on a regular basis.
The work started in June 2013 and included a full installation of drainage and a complete new playing surface built from scratch.
Life President Colin Webb was in attendance to cut the ribbon and open up a new era for the club in style last Saturday.
On their pitch debut, Crosfields chalked up 17 tries, with centre Troy Brophy claiming four of them.
Lewis Bani (2), Nathan Hamilton (2), Ian Boden, Danny Lee (2), Jack Reid, Hayden James (2), Chris Burgess, John Malcolm and Ash Cornelia also got over for tries, with Cornelia adding seven conversions.
