A £300,000 improvement scheme will boost services for vulnerable people in North Warrington.
The borough council is to carry out the work at Gorse covert Day Centre, in Birchwood.
Cllr Pat Wright (pictured), lead member for health and wellbeing and adult services, said: “The Gorse Covert Day Centre is a great facility which provides vital services to about 150 vulnerable people who need specialist equipment and support. The new development will further enhance the existing provision and will include specialist rooms for 10 more people.
“The design has taken into account the views of staff, service users and carers and will improve services for people with complex needs, or profound and multiple learning disabilities.
“This development will not only provide better facilities for some of Warrington’s most vulnerable people.
“The additional places available should also mean a reduction in the numbers of people who have to be placed in specialist services outside of Warrington.”
