NOMINATIONS for the annual Warrington Sports Awards open today – opening the way for local sports stars to progress to regional titles.
The awards celebrate local achievements in sport by individuals and
clubs and the presentation ceremony will be held at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub on Wednesday April 30.
There are nine categories and the winner of each category will go on to represent Warrington at the county awards, Cheshire Sports Awards, organised by Sport Cheshire.
Winners from there will go on to the North West awards. People can
nominate as many different people, clubs or volunteers as they like. The categories are:
The nine categories are team, coach, volunteer, young volunteer, sports achiever, young sports achiever and school team of the year, a special recognition award and a disabled sports achiever award.
Cllr Kate Hannon (pictured), the borough council’s lead memberexecutive board member for leisure, community and culture, said:
“The sports awards aim to recognise volunteers and sporting heroes who give up their time and effort to help make local sport a success. If you know someone who is involved with sport on a local level and deserves recognition then please nominate them.”
Nominations stay open until Friday April 11.
