Free – buckets of compost!

BUCKETS full of compost are being given away to mark the restart of Warrington’s popular garden waste service.
Saturday, March 1 will see the borough council’s recycling team at Victoria Park from 9am – with free compost.
Residents are invited to go down to collect the compost, which will be loose so a shovel and either a bucket or heavy duty bags will be needed.
The give-away comes just a few days before the garden waste service starts up again on Tuesday March 4.
Cllr David Keane (pictured), the borough council lead member for environment and public protection, said: “We would like to thank everyone for their support for the garden waste service and since it began we have collected and composted over 87,000 tonnes of waste, which is fantastic. There is a limited amount of compost available during the give-away so come down early before it runs out.
“We will also have a limited supply of free home compost bins for your garden. All we ask is that you stay for a short talk on how to home compost. Staff will be available all morning to give help and advice on how to compost and recycle your waste.”
