Police issue new appeal for witnesses after man charged with murder

POLICE investigating the death of a man who was found dead in the road at Rixton, Warrington, after being struck by a HGV have launched a new appeal for information from the public.
Police were called to the A57 Manchester Road close to Junction 21 of the M6 on Saturday morning following reports that a man was deceased in the road.
Officers arrived at the scene and the man ? who has been named as Trevor Allen, aged 56, from Manchester ? was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Mr Allen, (pictured) who had been driving a red Citroen Berlingo along the road at the time of the incident, died as a result of injuries sustained after being struck by a HGV in the carriageway.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and has witnessed what happened or was in the area prior to the incident and has seen anything significant to come forward.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 221 of 15 February.
Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
A man has been charged in connection with this incident.
Mark Slater, aged 46, from Hillside Avenue in Oldham, appeared at Runcorn Magistrates? Court this morning (Monday 17 February) via video link. He is facing a charge of murder.
He was arrested on Saturday 15 February and was subsequently charged with the offence and remanded into custody.
