Green flag flying at Lymm Dam for sixth consecutive year

MEMBERS of Lymm Environment and Heritage Group (LEHG) are celebrating the award of Green Flag status at Lymm Dam for the sixth consecutive year.
The nationally recognised award for parks and open spaces requires a site to be managed to a certain standard with the support of the local community.
LEHG first achieved Green Flag status following the conclusion of the Lymm’s Life Project, a wide ranging initiative which saw improvements to the infrastructure and ecology of Lymm Dam, the provision of a car park for the site, the creation of the Lymm Heritage Trail and an archaeological dig at Lymm’s slitting mill.
Chairman of Lymm Parish Council, Cllr Ian Marks said: “Congratulations to the Ranger Service and in particular Tim Baker for all their hard work in regaining a Green Flag for Lymm Dam. We cannot take retaining the Green Flag for granted and it only comes from the efforts of the Council and volunteers for which we are very grateful.”
LEHG is a partnership between Warrington Borough Council Parks and Woodland Service, Lymm Parish Council and various groups and individuals with an interest in the management of Lymm’s environment. The group meets quarterly and new members are always welcome.
