Council urged to act on potholes

MP Helen Jones has joined forces with a local councillor to flag up pothole problems on a Warrington housing estate.
The Warrington North MP and Cllr Steve Roberts have called on the borough council to be more pro-active in dealing with pot holes in the Buttermere Crescent area.
Their comments came following a “walkabout” they conducted in the area and, after speaking with local residents and inspecting the damaged highway for themselves, they declared: “More needs to be done”.
Ms Jones (pictured) said: “I have spoken to many people in Poplars and Hulme who tell me that they are increasingly concerned at the condition of the roads and pavements.
“We know that pot holes are blight on many roads across Warrington, but there are areas where the problem is more pronounced.
“One of those areas is Poplars and Hulme – and I believe that more needs to be done to ensure that my constituents here aren’t left at the back of the queue.”
Cllr Roberts added: “The cuts imposed on our Council’s budget by the Coalition Government have hit Poplars and Hulme hard.
“But we must make sure that areas like Buttermere Crescent aren’t forgotten about. This part of my ward suffers from pot holes and poorly-maintained pavements.
“That is why I am keen to see the borough council turn its attention to this part of the town and give us a fair share of investment to improve the area for everyone.”
